Something crafty is in the works

All I can reveal so far is that I've vacuumed 3 times and Clara still keeps getting covered in glitter when she crawls in the kitchen.

Pulling up

Today we started pulling up. I don't know if I can handle all these changes so fast! I can't take my eye off this one for a second.

She couldn't stop giggling at her reflection. Too cute! I'd say she loved her first day of vacation at the beach house. Much less a vacation for me since everything isn't child proofed and I'm having to watch her like a hawk but we made it through the first day.

Grocery shopping

Clara got to ride in the grocery cart for the first time this week. She LOVED it!! She smiled and giggled at every person that walked past. It was nice to be able to buy more than just a few items since before her car seat took up the whole cart! She looks like such a big girl sitting up in the cart!!

Making friends

Clara has been busy making friends! Hayley came over for dinner last weekend and they also played/napped together in nursery. Hayley is one day older than Clara. Love watching them grow and change together and hope they continue to be good friends as they get older.

Clara's baby dedication

A couple of weeks ago we dedicated Clara at our church, Providence. Its similar to a christening but basically we stand in front of the church and present her in a public act of worship to the Lord. We then promise to raise her up in accordance with God's promises. It was a really special day and we were so grateful that friends and family could be there to celebrate Clara's big day with us. I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful church to raise Clara in and can't wait to watch her grow, make friends and learn about Jesus over the next few years.

Afterwards, we celebrated with brunch at Coquette with friends and family. The food was delicious and Clara loved getting to see everybody.

Shoes

Clara and I went shoe shopping at the mall yesterday and almost died at how much baby shoes cost (well, maybe that was just me, not Clara) but $40 for a pair of shoes she is going to wear for a month is pretty steep!! We did find an awesome outfit but unfortunately it wasn't our size.

Today we went shoe shopping again but at the consignment store and left with three pairs of shoes for $10!! Pretty cute if I do say so myself.

7 Months Old!!!

Soo... I just noticed in my inbox that this said DRAFT!! Oops. So... here is what Clara was doing a month ago!

My favorite moments: The last couple of weeks you have been fussy and pulling on your ear... teething maybe? I've been using my finger to rub on your gums which you really like. The other day you grabbed my finger while I was rubbing your gums and put my finger and your hand towards my mouth then started laughing hysterically. You did it over and over again, it was too cute. I was so amazed because for the first time I could see that you really do pay attention to my actions and understand what is going on. You have also started to say mama and dada. You don't understand the context yet but you know that we really like it when you say it so you will say it then look at us and grin like you know you did something great. You will also mimic me if I say mama. One of my favorite things is when I go to get you up from your nap or in the morning. As soon as I pick you up you snuggle up against my neck with your arms around me for just a minute. I can never get enough of that.

Clara quirks: We've started having some anxiety issues which makes me very very unproductive around the house. As soon as you notice I'm not in the same room as you the screaming commences. Luckily you still do really well in the nursery. I think its because there are so many things to distract you from the fact that I'm not there. You still love being outside or just out running errands. I imagine you get tired of being stuck in the house all day just like I do.

Nap/Sleep: We were on a roll for a while sleeping all night, from 8PM to 6AM, then after a feeding going right back to bed till 8AM. Then the tooth/cold/ear whatever started and you started waking up every 4 hours. That lasted for a very very long week but last night you were back to normal thank goodness! Dad has started reading you a Bible story before you go to bed each night which is so special to me. I love to listen to the two of you in your room, Dad reading and you babbling away. You still take 3 naps a day with the first being very consistent, an hour and a half after you have woken up and the other two varying, depending on if we've been out running errands. For a while you had quit sleeping in your stroller but lately you have started falling asleep in it again which is really nice when we are on the go all afternoon. You still fall sleep every single time we put you in the car which is amazing!

Eating: You are doing great with your eating! So far you like everything I have given you except the green foods (spinach, peas and green beans). Maybe I need to try some food coloring. Although I do taste all your food before I give it it you and I have to confess all three of those tasted pretty gross to me too. Your favorite is definitely applesauce but you do really like sweet potatoes too. We are still eating solids just once a day. The pediatrician said that milk made up all the calories you need right now and the solids is just a learning process so once a day is plenty. Sure makes me happy because feeding you solids is messy and time consuming. This week I started to ween you by dropping one feeding a day and substituting with formula. I started with mixing half breast milk and half formula then switched to just formula which you like just fine. I was really worried about you not liking it but you could care less as long as you get fed! Today I tried to be really adventurous and didn't warm your milk up, just gave it to you cold. That was a no. I ended up having to warm it so you would drink it.

Mobility: Your crawling now! After a couple of weeks of getting up on your hands and knees and rocking, you finally figured out how to move you hands and now there is no stopping you. Your still working on your momentum but I'm amazing at the progress you have made just from this morning to this evening. I expected you to army crawl first but you skipped that altogether. Why bother when you can do it on your hands and knees! I put overalls on you today to try and protect your knees a little better but they were still bright red when dad put you to bed tonight. I've covered all the sockets to keep you away from those but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to take down all my curtains too because that is your favorite thing to get to and pull on when your cruising on the floor.

And we are crawling!

Still kind of slow and trying to get the hang of it but Clara can definitely get where she wants to go in a forward direction now instead of just rolling there. She still gets frustrated but she is doing great and will probably be all over the house in a few more days!

Last time in the swing

This is probably our last time in the swing before we lone it to a sweet friend with a baby on the way. As you can see Clara is busting out of it and I can't leave her alone in it even strapped in for fear she will do some acrobatics and flip out. The swing has been our GOOD friend!! As much as Clara likes it I'm a little sad they don't make an adult version.
